The base is a typical 4 x 8 size…you know, like the oh-so-popular, skinny photo card size.
Here’s a piece by piece breakdown. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3…and 4.
With my Silhouette, I cut cards #1, 2 & 3 — it cut the holes, cut around my Christmas message…the whole shebang. Easy peasy. However, I had to trim each photo (#4) by hand with my cutting board. Boo hoo, right? Then I had to assemble each card by placing #2 onto #1, #3 onto #2, and #4 onto #3. I ran a piece of grosgrain ribbon through the holes at the top and tied it in a knot (you could use a bow, too). If you need a quick & easy how-to on tying flat-front knots, check out my last blog post, {here}. For construction, I used roll-on adhesive, like Duck Brand Double Stick Adhesive Roller, and Pop Dots (or the like) — no gluing!
1) I’m not sure I’d do this if the list were ANY higher than seventy. This task was manageable, but any more and I’d have to start before Thanksgiving.
2) I don’t think I would have done this without a cutting machine, like my Silhouette. Though, it definitely IS possible with a good cutting board, a hole punch and a corner punch.
3) Be sure to think about envelopes. Often, you have to order a set online as not many stores carry a huge stock that fit 4 x 8 cards.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at all sad as I placed the cards into their envelopes and mailed them off, knowing that most would be tossed into the trash within days after being opened, maybe sooner. Ah well, it was fun making them nonetheless.

I just found your blog today, through Tater Tots & Jello and the Moss letters post. Love your blog!!! As I was reading a little bit through your posts, I realized that our sons are 1 month apart!
Anyway, I love these Christmas cards you made with the Silhouette. I love mine, and every day I discover more and more things I can create with it. Not just cards, but things all over, and for my husband and kids too.
I am off now to make my moss covered letter. Great tutorial!! You’ve got a new reader!!
So glad you stopped by! Yes, I’m addicted to my Silhouette, too. I would just love the new Cameo — perhaps for my birthday this year!
Hope to see you around again soon. Best!
